How 400+ Fresh Green Coconuts and Signature Jerk Chicken Brought the Tropics Straight to Montréal

From July 9 to 12, 2026, the Boom J’s Cuisine food truck made its mark at the Taste of the Caribbean festival in the Old Port, bringing over 400 fresh, ice-cold coconuts straight from the islands. We were thrilled to serve the crowd our top sellers—our authentic jerk chicken and signature jerk poutine.

When the reggae kicked in through the speakers, you would have sworn you were at a live dub session in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. The bass thundered from the main stage while our traditional Jamaican drum grill sizzled, ready for the massive crowd. The live performances were incredible, lighting up the festival all the way through Soca Sunday, when Alison Hinds took the stage and had the entire Old Port jumping. The atmosphere was pure magic.

Along with our original full-sized food truck, we rolled out a brand-new addition to the fleet: Boom Boom Poulet Frit! Festival-goers couldn't get enough of our island-style fried chicken. Managing two distinct food truck concepts side by side at a major event was a huge milestone for us, and the response was overwhelming.

To keep up with the non-stop lines, our mobile kitchen was turning out a full lineup of authentic Caribbean classics and Quebec fusion favorites:

None of this would have been possible without our amazing team and family. A huge, heartfelt thank you goes to my beautiful wife, the entire Boom J’s crew, and a big shoutout to Team Amigo—led by our master grill chef, Carlos, from the Dominican Republic, who handled the drum grill with absolute skill all weekend long. Your hard work and relentless energy made this event an incredible success.

When LASSO Montréal took over Parc Jean-Drapeau on August 15 and 16, 2026, country music fans gathered on Saint Helen's Island for two days of non-stop live music, cowboy boots, and incredible festival energy. To keep thousands of hungry festival-goers powered through a packed lineup of headliners, our team was ready to roll.

From the moment the gates opened, we were right in the heart of the action. Perfectly positioned near the Bell LASSO Stage, our food truck served up authentic Jamaican cuisine all weekend long. Even when Saturday brought a bit of rain, the weather couldn't slow us down—our team kept the grill hot and kept serving hungry fans right through the drizzle. Being our very first time at LASSO, we brought out our top fan favorites to win over the crowd.

The Quebec Fusion Favorite: Jerk Chicken Poutine

While country fans loved every item on our menu, one dish completely stole the show: our signature Jerk Chicken Poutine.

We took Quebec’s iconic staple—crispy French fries, rich savory gravy, and squeaky-fresh cheese curds—and elevated it with a bold Caribbean twist. Loaded high with slow-marinated, grilled jerk chicken and seasoned with our signature spice blend, it became an instant hit. Country fans heading to and from the Bell LASSO Stage couldn't get enough of the heat and comfort packed into a single plate.
